Oh, they were all so young! A gaunt Robert DeNiro. A baby-faced Michael Moriarty. The debut of Danny Aiello.
And here they are, radiating talent and youth, in that oldest chestnut of dramas: male sports weepie. DeNiro's a catcher on a minor league baseball team. Moriarty's a pitcher. Moriarty knows his way around; DeNiro's a bumpkin from rural Georgia.
And then DeNiro's diagnosed with Hodgkin's disease --- the fatal kind.
And Moriarty's totally there for him. For his last season. Ever.
Butler is an easy cry. But even the most hard-hearted will weep at this l973 classic.
